2340) As I grow older, I find myself thinking and doing things I promised myself when I was younger that I would never do.
One of them is to compare how much things cost when I first started out as an adult to the cost of things now.
In those first years, I really didn’t have much money, so I had to constantly count the cost of things and to think ahead. Now that I’m older, I laugh when I think of the prices I paid then compared to now.
Prices will usually go up each year, and what I’m willing to spend on something determines how much I value it.
Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:20 that we have a huge price tag. It states we were bought at a price. What was the price? Jesus’ death and separation from God for three days.
I can’t imagine the pain Jesus endured on the cross but even more so, what it was like for him to be separated from God. The price was horrific.
I can spend my time feeling guilty for adding to Jesus’ suffering, or I can stand up straight, with my head held high, knowing that Jesus valued me that much. Price tags can be enlightening.
