Though these things are part of life, Proverbs 20:12 tells us of a different hearing and seeing.

The word for hearing in Hebrew is shama`, which refers to considering, declaring, understanding and obeying.

The word for seeing in Hebrew is ra’ah, which means to perceive, regard, respect and take heed. Though we have no choice over our hearing and seeing dimming with age, we do have control of our spiritual hearing and seeing. This is a choice.
