No Darkness

2319) We know what darkness is, literally and figuratively. We see darkness every 12 hours. We know what it means to be “in the dark” about something.

Because we know what darkness is, it might be easier to relate to all things darkness-wise because we’re comfortable with the known. Maybe, too, we feel like we have much more in common with this type of life.

Yet, 1 John 1:5 tells us God is light and there is no darkness within him. If darkness can represent all that’s bad, then God is not part of it.

It is easy to try to move God and his nature into the darkness category when things don’t go the way we want or because we see horrific things on this earth.

The good news is things in the dark can be illuminated by God and produce good. Even better news is the things of God that are good (light) cannot be snuffed out by bad (darkness). When we are standing in darkness, it can feel frightening.  Yet, even a tiny spark of light can change the darkest things, if not now, in eternity.
