1 + 1 = 1

2306) Many of my young scholars complain regularly about their math class. It’s not really about who is teaching what; it’s that many of them don’t understand the concepts.

When they complain, I tell them I would much rather do math because it’s precise. Your work is either right or wrong. This isn’t true in writing.

For example, sometimes commas are used “here” and at other times, they’re not.

There is an equation I thought of today that doesn’t follow the “rules” of math. It is: 1 + 1 = 1

I have two verses that should be examined together, and when they are, they complete the thought.

Psalm 119:11 tells us that storing God’s word in our hearts helps us not to sin. The other one, Hebrews 4:12, tells us God’s word is powerful and sharper than a two-edged sword.

Together, we can understand the reason it’s a good idea to keep God’s words regularly in our thoughts. It’s because these words can help us fight anything evil or sinful that comes our way.

How do I store God’s word in my heart? By reading them; singing them; repeating them; listening to them; talking about them. Both verses are important individually, but together, we have a practical math problem that always adds up.
