Second-Guessing

2265) Second-guessing is a habit that may not be the best option. It involves the melding of past history, and predictability of the actions and words of others involved.

Some people are good at second-guessing, but it truly isn’t foolproof. In fact, if you’re fairly successful in doing so, it makes it a harder swallow when the guess is off the mark.

I think of this when I read verses such as Psalm 34:17. Here the psalmist says, when the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. (ESV)

When reading this, it’s easy to assume (guess) that anytime we cry out to God for help, he will help in a way we assume is the best way.

However, when we get out of the assumption/guessing mode, we know God doesn’t always deliver help in the way we think he should.

We need to dare to put down our assumptions and guesses and trust God will help in the most effective manner. Always.
