Wise Marketing

2249) When I first moved into the realm of writing for a business, I made many mistakes.

I thought snagging any literary agent was the goal and entering any writing competitions that came to my awareness was good. I have since realized the fallacy of these ideas.

After all, I want someone working for me who sells to publishers in my genre, and trying to force myself to write about topics I have no interest in is a waste of time.

I learned another expensive lesson: advertising to simply reach the most people is not a good thing.

If I write Christian fiction and non-fiction and I advertise to people who read anything but, it’s a waste of money. I need to pinpoint this specific niche; to people who desire to read Christian fiction and nonfiction.

Revelation 22:17 tells us God calls close to him those who are thirsty and desire the water of life. He knows that people who are looking for answers, a spiritual doctor and a mentor are the ones he calls to himself. After all, it is the sick who need a doctor. Matthew 9:12.

God never forces himself on people. He knows the art of wise marketing.
