For me, I can do 30 things right during the day and say something that was wrong, and when I think through the day each evening, my mind will focus on the one rather than the 30.
1 John 3:20 has a message for when we are too hard on ourselves. It tells us when our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. (ESV)
When God looks at our hearts, he looks through the lens of grace. He knows our history and what led up to the current circumstances and he is moved with compassion. If God himself, who knows everything about us, is merciful and full of grace toward us, maybe we should be a little more like this with ourselves.
