Rejoice, Pray and Give

2231) If you want to make a start in having a better relationship with God, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 tells you how.

First, rejoice always. The Greek word for rejoice is chairó, which can be translated as to be calmly happy because of the grace God has given to you. This is not a feeling but a recognition.

Second, pray without ceasing. This is not literal but rather keeping an ongoing conversation going with your creator.

Third, give thanks in all circumstances. This is possible because God has told us he uses all things for good. (Romans 8:28) Even if you don’t recognize it at the moment, you can be thankful, by faith, that one day, you will understand it was allowed to produce good.

A strong relationship with God is as easy as these three things and as difficult, at times
