2222) Our technology has grown by leaps and bounds. With a few clicks, we can watch or listen to almost anything on demand.
When I see this phrase, On Demand, I wonder how this is shaping us as a society. Do we get so used to this on demand that we expect everything to be this way?
Even though we are used to getting many things on demand, we know feelings don’t operate this way. For example, love.
We cannot produce the feeling of love when we snap our fingers, and yet, Jesus tells us to love one another. John 15:12.
The feelings of love cannot be on demand, but the actions of love can. Love is a choice, and we are commanded (demanded) to make this choice by God.
Whenever we care for someone who has wronged us. Whenever we leave the biting words unsaid. Whenever we forgive. These choices are the result of the demanded words of God.
Love as a choice is valuable because it is a choice.
