2149) We all have our moments when the stress of the day-by-day creeps up on us. When these times come, we are not at our best. We may even act in a manner which isn’t typical for us.
When others see us in these moments, it might be easy for them to use the words of James 1:22 to judge our spiritual status.
This verse simply says, in part, I will show you my faith by my works. Taking this part of the verse to use against ourselves or others who claim to be followers of Christ is not always helpful. All of us can act in ways that are definitely not our best moments, but I think an important word to consider here is consistency.
How does this person act consistently? Do they consistently act in a manner worthy of God? (Colossians 1:10) Do they apologize when they have caused a wrong?
Christians don’t always consistently act in a Christ-like manner, but that doesn’t mean they are not striving to be Christ-like.
