2135) The words, pay attention, are ones used by anyone working or living with kids. For kids, there is so much of the world to see it’s easy for youngsters to label things as important when they may not be.
I think of this difficulty when I read Luke 6:6-11. Here, Jesus is in a synagogue teaching. There are pharisees and teachers of the law present. There’s also a man whose hand was shriveled.
Jesus takes compassion on this man and heals him. The next thing that happens blows my mind.
Instead of paying attention to Jesus’ miracle, the Pharisees and teachers of the law jump to quick accusations and tell Jesus he’s breaking Jewish law.
What I find myself wanting to do is shout, wait! Didn’t you see the miracle Jesus did? Obviously, they were paying attention to their own agenda and missed out on celebrating a miracle and a man’s restoration.
Paying attention to what God says and does in our lives is a skill that must be practiced.
