2101) Many of you have seen the classic poem about the footprints in the sand, how there were two sets and then, suddenly, there is only one.  

The ending, of course, reminds us God was carrying us when the first set of footprints disappeared. It’s a great sentiment, and it came to mind when I read Psalm 77:19.  

Here the Psalmist states (God’s) path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen.  

Much of the time, we cannot see God’s footprints beside us nor the times when he is carrying us, but it doesn’t change the fact that he is there. Acknowledging this is the essence of faith.
