Values

2100) When I taught high school, I was amazed at how many of my students would be given cars on their 16th birthday. They would go and pick out a car or truck and their parents signed on the dotted line.

What was interesting to me was the illustration that value is often determined by how hard we have to work for it.

Many of these kids drove carelessly and didn’t concern themselves with any damage they could potentially do because they knew their parents would get them something else to replace it.

These memories came to mind when I read Proverbs 13:4. It tells us lazy people want a lot but get little, but those who work hard will prosper. (NLT)

Things, skills, educational degrees and more are valuable because of the effort you have to put in them.

Just think, anyone could decide to be a doctor, lawyer or anything they can think of when it takes no effort. Then, what kind of world would we have?

Hard work is valuable.
