Fig Trees

2080) Extreme weather the last few years on the coast of Maine has caused us much damage. Because we have lost power for multiple days over the coarse of several storms, our house generator wore out and had to be replaced.

The wind blew an outbuilding with a cement foundation crooked. We’ve had 6 trees uprooted or snapped in half land on our power lines, resulting in a pole broken in half and just a few days ago, a fire which two firetrucks were dispatched.

As I spoke with a friend about all of this, they quoted John 1:48, which reveals Jesus’ words to Nathanael; I saw you under the fig tree.

When I heard these words, I said a bit sarcastically, Yes, but that tree I’ve been sitting under has been blown over, broken off and set on fire.

My friend smiled and said, that doesn’t change the fact that he sees you there. It was enough for me to sit back, calm down and eventually fill with peace.

No matter what happens to your fig tree, death, destruction or doubt, Jesus still sees you and will act on your behalf.

Peace is a gift that God will give if you accept it.
