2020) I have learned so much from being a teacher for almost 40 years. For example, I’ve learned that a good lesson plan is the best classroom management tool. I’ve realized I must change my approach to a class of kids who no longer think, live and exist in a world I started out in. I have also come to realize how much power self-esteem carries.
If I have a student who is convinced he is dumb, I have a more difficult road ahead of me to teach him how to be a better reader and writer. If a student of mine knows that making mistakes is a part of life, this young person has a much better chance of success.
Proverbs 23:7 addresses the need to challenge what we think about ourselves. The King James Bible says it beautifully, for as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
What we think about ourselves ought to be examined from time to time. In so doing, it may be the difference between producing a lot for God and ourselves or wasting a life whose gifts may have made a difference in the lives of others.
