2019) I haven’t lived in the South for over 20 years. Even though I’ve been away for more than two decades, I’m fairly certain most people would be familiar with the Golden Rule. Here in New England, I’m not sure how many, especially the young, could quote it.  

The Golden Rule is helpful in so many situations and as I read Romans 15:7, I sensed another version of this phrase. Paul tells us to welcome others as Christ has welcomed you. This rule might be phrased, Do unto others what God has done for you.  

God is merciful, kind, loving, patient, graceful, and so many other things. If God has given us these things freely, how can we refuse to give them to others?  

To one who is given much, much will be required in return. Luke 12:48.
